I was unable to attend the meeting in Blockhouse so I will take this
opportunity to make my views known. I am opposed to mining uranium in
this province. There is no way to extract that mineral without causing
irreversible environmental damage. Once the genie is out of the bottle
we cannot return it. We have come so far with recycling, land fills ,
forest management, etc. , why would we even consider such an
environmentally devastating thing? And to proposes it in the name of
the Kyoto accord? Why in the name of reducing greenhouse gasses would we pollute
our water, and our air with radiation that will persist for thousands
of years? I understand that British Colombia has just put a permanent
moratorium in place for that province. May we do likewise without
delay .
