Mr. Ron Smith has extensive financial, operations and consulting experience. He has recently retired from Emera Inc. where he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 2000 to 2004. He has held senior executive positions with Aliant Inc. and its predecessor, MTT, and was a Partner with Ernst & Young Management Consultants. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia and a recipient of the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal. Mr. Smith is a graduate of the ICD Corporate Governance College at the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto. Currently he serves as a Director of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. Mr. Smith has a long history of service to Acadia University and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Governors. He has a bachelor of business administration, from Acadia University, and obtained his chartered accountant designation in 1973.
