Your Vision:
I'm hoping in the future there is more spent on the maintenance and restoration of our, parks, forests and beaches to show visitors a pride of ownership and give us something to share with the rest of the world that is not available anywhere else in the world....and also that people of Nova Scotia realize what they have and how to keep it
Strengths:
As I mentioned above, I am hoping that there be a pride here in NS of our heritage which does not exist anywhere but here...these four areas are apart of our culture..a culture that can be used as both an attraction to the tourists as well as a good income for the local forestry and miners as well if we learn to work together.
Barriers and Issues:
I feel there is still a lack of awareness of our culture. I lived in Hawaii and the culture there has been marketed strongly and the people there know their livlihood is based on that marketing. They are aware their culture is unique to the rest of the world and I wish Nova Scotian could appreciate the importance of their culture and how to perpetuate it.
Community's Priorities:
I believe it could start with students in schools..show them how unique they are and get them interested in the music and crafts that make us so unique...then share that learning with the people who come for that experience. Lets show off our talents and what we have to offer!
Guiding the health and sustainability:
We must not rape our forests but share them...keep the lighthouses and old homes and traditions alive for future. Basically realize we must look after what we have or it will not sustain us. There is a Hawaiian saying that sums it up "Life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness
