There will be a strategic & balanced approach to their management to ensure their availability in the future.
Strengths:
Sustainability of our ecosystems; contribute to quality of life for current & future Nova Scotian's; tourism;
Barriers and Issues:
Over harvesting; insufficient long term strategic planning & management of these resources; lack of awareness & consciousness of their value by majority of citizens; complacency.
Community's Priorities:
To increase knowledge & awareness of their value, contributions & essential role in achieving quality of life in NS. We need to place higher priority on education of these resources in the school systems - start with environmental issues in Primary.
Guiding the health and sustainability:
Respectful co-existence/co-habitation with nature; citizen engagement.
