Vision:
To protect Nova Scotia's environment and manage it in a sustainable manner. This province is very rocky, with little top soil in many areas and therefore our land is extremely fragile. Therefore, forests, watersheds, flora and fauna must be viewed as a whole, and managed with great care. Any mining must not damage watersheds, nor environment.
A definite NO to uranium mining in Nova Scotia.

Strengths:
This is a strange question.
Nova Scotia could be a tourist treasure - but it would mean better managed forests, stricter protection of shores and watersheds. We know the strengths of our natural resources, and they can be managed in a sustainable manner.

Barriers and Issues:
Blatant mismanagement by governments, policy makers, and those entrusted to oversee and protect our resources can cause tremendous longterm, expensive damage. Short term gain is not an option these days.

Community's Priorities:
Protection of environment, watersheds, and strongly enforced laws. Determination in restricting development and highways.

Guiding the health and sustainability:
Recognition that the whole ecosystem has to be protected and managed in a sustainable way. To do that means meaningful government policy, backed up with proper management, and law enforcement.

Additional Comments:
Does the sea coast (i.e. sea life, fish) fall under Natural Resources? After all, what happens on the land affects the whole ecosystem right down to the sea.
Why are we spraying our forests? The insecticides go into the land, air, water. Surely we are poisoning birds and animals, as well as ourselves. Who is allowing this?
