Russell MacDonald,
Groves Point

Mr. Russell MacDonald is a retired educator with the Cape Breton - Victoria Regional School Board. During his 32 years in education, Mr. MacDonald has been a teacher, a junior high principal and a curriculum supervisor. He was a member of the Voluntary Planning Education Sector. Mr. MacDonald served as President of the NS Teachers Union from 1990 -1992. When he retired in 2002, his peers recognized his achievements when he was presented with a special award from the NS Teachers Union for his contributions to education. He was also presented with an honorary life membership in the NS School Administrators Association. Mr. MacDonald holds a master of arts designation in education administration from Dalhousie University and both a bachelor of arts and bachelor of education from St. F.X. University. Always interested in community volunteering, Mr. MacDonald has turned his attention recently to helping with the NS Canada Games team. He has been Mission Staff, NS Canada Summer Games 2001, Assistant Chef de Mission, NS Canada Winter Games 2003 and in 2005 will be Chef de Mission, NS Canada Summer Games.
