As an individual Nova Scotian I have read the report of the Natural Resources Citizen Committee. Although many of the issues that I think are important were mentioned in the report, I believe there should be a stronger indication that steps will be taken immediately to lessen damage to streams and other ecologically fragile environments as a result of forestry practices, highway building, general development and mining, to name some of the most significant. Establishing a final provincial approach should take considerable time if it is to be optimum. I believe it may be necessary to take some precautionary measures, or to fast-track policy in high impact situations, if we are to avoid irreparable damage.
I shall watch developments with interest.
